I have mentioned before somewhere on my website that Ali Abdaal has inspired me to create this blog, and that I am doing this while waiting for my university days to begin, but I have also left out a detail on the reason why I decided to blog, and this may be unexpected to most readers.
Have you ever read the book series ‘Scythe’ by Neal Shusterman?
It is a science fiction novel series that takes place in the future where humanity has achieved immortality. However, since resources on the Earth are still limited, in order to control the human population, a number of humans are selected to be ‘scythes’, who have the job to, well, legally kill humans in order to curb the rapidly increasing population.
It is a fantastic book series by Shusterman and I recommend you to read it, but how does it exactly link to my inspiration to start a blog?
Throughout the book series, the scythes have to write daily journals and publish them to the public. Shusterman includes these journals written by scythes throughout the novel series, and while the journals may be about mundane things happening in the scythe’s life, they are incredibly thought-provoking and makes the reader think a lot about life. Hence, I have decided to use this blog as a platform, to record and document certain aspects of my life, and to free my mind and put my thoughts to words and publish them to the Internet.
Will anyone ever read my blogs? I cannot tell. But my primary goal (for now) is not to build a large following of readers, but more so to find a channel to show my life through these lenses of mine, and to show the world through a student’s eyes.
